On 6 and 7 June 2024 the linguistic colloquium on Language, Region and Identity was held at Merano (Italy). The workshop is targeted at early-career researchers and aims to foster scientific exchange in the field of sociolinguistics. This 7th edition focussed on the topic of language and belonging, foregrounding the different ways in which belonging is manifested through spatial, temporal and material dimensions and how these come together in our everyday linguistic interactions. Discussing the overall ATLAM project and its focus on the impact of digital discourses on migrants’ identity constructions, Elisa presented a poster that included the first findings of a case study which critically analysed the multimodal discourses used to represent a migrant caravan ‘Éxodo de la Pobreza’.
