On 24 May 2024, PhD-students of the research group TRACE (Translation & Culture) at Ghent University organised a research day, inviting young and senior researchers to present or transfer new ideas and challenges they encountered in their research within the discipline of Translation Studies. This first edition offered an accessible platform to share and exchange new perspectives on the many approaches and methods with in the field. This initiative ushered into collaborative practice between the research groups of TRACE (UGhent) and CLIV (VUB-UGhent).
A presentation on the self-translation of migrant identities in audiovisual products, introduced the approach that this project will take on translation as a conceptual and metaphorical tool, leading to insightful exchanges with the audience on stretching the boundaries of the concept of translation.
